Meet the team
As part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), all children will have a key person assigned to them, which allows your child to build a familiar and trusting relationship with a member of pre-school staff who will support and help them to develop throughout their time at SKIPS.
All staff are appointed by the SKIPS committee and will have completed or will undertake the relevant recognised statutory training courses, and are enhanced DBS checked.
I have been working at SKIPS since the Spring of 2016 where I initially worked part-time hours at the teatime club alongside my full-time job at West Kidlington School, before becoming Manager in November 2018. I studied at Pen Green Research Centre where I gained my level 6 degree in Early Childhood and Education. I am very passionate about early years teaching and child development, and I enjoy getting fully involved with all aspects of the children’s learning. I particularly love to create an exciting learning environment and get a lot of pleasure in seeing children’s individual progress. I take great satisfaction in leading my fantastic team and helping them succeed towards their own personal goals. Outside of work, I like to take my dog for walks in the countryside, and I enjoy spending time with my husband and family.
I started working at SKIPS in 2003 as a 1:1 support worker. Over the years I reduced the hours I worked as a Paediatric nurse and took on a larger role of part-time assistant then the full-time role I do now. I continuously reflect on my practice and relish any training opportunities. I enjoy sharing my experiences with staff, students, and families and learn from them and the uniqueness of children daily. I have a particular passion to help and see progress made by children with EAL and SEND but all children developing the best they can never fail to give me pleasure. I moved to Kidlington from Scotland in 1992 and have 3 grown-up children. I enjoy going to visit them and long canal walks with my husband plus using my amateur dramatics skills to amuse SKIPS children.
I have worked in childcare since 2005, joining Skips when my Daughter started full time at school. I stayed for a couple of years before leaving to join a setting where I worked with children aged from 3-11 years. I returned to Skips in 2014 working at lunch club and since the summer of 2019 where I have increased my hours to three full days. I also work at West Kidlington school Nursey one day a week. I have a level 2 qualification in childcare. My favourite part of my job is definitely singing, and I enjoy messy play too. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and I volunteer at Oxford United, making tea for the press on match days.
I started to work for Skips Pre-School in September 2018 as a lunchtime assistant and from my first day have enjoyed spending time not only with the children but fabulous staff members as well. In September 2019 I was offered a full-time position and I have now started training towards my Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner. I have 5 children of my own, ageing from 14 to 5 years old and all of them have attended Skips Pre-School and found it to be a very friendly and fun environment to be in. My favourite part of working at skips is seeing the children develop and grow.
I recently joined SKIPS in June 2019 and I love it here! I have a Level 3 qualification in Childcare & Education which I gained at college. I have worked in childcare for 5 years now, with experience with a wide range of age groups. I love spending my days doing such a rewarding job with such lovely children and a wonderful team of staff. Outside of work, I love spending time with my friends and travelling to different places with them. I am a big music fan and I love going to live concerts in a number of different places.
Lunch Time Assistant
I started in February so I’m still new to the team. When I’m working I like to hear about the children’s day and talk about what they have for lunch. I have two children aged 7 and 5 they both attended skips and loved it. In my spare time I attend an exercise class called ((BOUNCE)) I also enjoy running, I like to take my children out for day trips and to the seaside.
I have worked at skips for 4years and I absolutely love the setting and as a parent myself, I would recommend the setting to anyone who has children. I have 15 years of childcare experience and have two children of my own. I have an NVQ level 3 qualification in childcare, along with safeguarding and first aid training. I am very passionate about my job and love welcoming new children and parents to the setting, always making it my target to get to know both children and parents.
I was born in India and for two years after graduating I was a teacher at a university. Then, after a few years of travelling, I moved to England where, in 2011, I decided to go back into teaching and childcare by joining SKIPS, a decision I will never regret. Since then for 8 years I’ve gained lots of experience and had fun along the way. I have done my level 2 in EYFS and CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce. I love to spend time with my family, cooking, gardening and listening to music in my spare time.
